Walter Shawn Browne, Chess Grandmaster, Dies at 66

Walter Shawn Browne, an aggressive, animated chess grandmaster and six-time United States champion who dazzled spectators with his world-class ability at speed chess, died on Wednesday in Las Vegas, where he had been competing in the 50th National Open. He was 66. He died in his sleep while resting at the home of a friend, according to an announcement on the Las Vegas International Chess Festival’s website. The cause was not yet known.

Pass The Doritos, Scientists Develop Computer Game That Could Help Gamers Lose Weight

Psychologists at the University of Exeter and Cardiff University have published a study that demonstrates how a simple computer game can help people lose weight. Participants in the study who played the specialized game lost and average of 1.5 pounds in the first seven days, and 4.5 pounds after six months. They also reduced their daily caloric consumption by 220 calories.

Fallout 4: Bethesda will dial back graphics in favour of complex systems

Fallout 4 will be a gorgeous game, but it won't be the showpiece some are expecting. Speaking at an E3 roundtable interview today, Bethesda's Pete Hines said that crafting complex and thoroughly interactive environments requires some graphical compromises. "Everything that we do is a balance," Hines said, via Gamespot. "We could make the best looking game possible, but we dial some of that back in order to allow for all of these other things."

I've often been guilty of giving something an "Untitled" moniker, so as to leave the interpretation ambiguous and allow the viewer to decipher the work, stripped of any hints or labels. With a video game, this is a bit trickier, as the title serves a larger purpose than just simply occupying a placard on the wall next to the hanging work.

For the First Time in the Series, Madden 16 Will Have Women in its Crowds

This year's Madden game will have women in the stands for the first time in series history. Madden NFL 16 features a host of improvements to player movement and behavior, graphical fidelity, and apparently gender representation in crowds. According to an interview with Madden developers on GameSpot's E3 stage, this year's installment adds females to the people filling the stadiums, something that no other Madden had done before.
